Kind of issues matters nowadays :
a. Equal access of Education
b. Equal right before the law
c. Dealing with climate change
d. Freedom to talk without worry ended in police stationI am living in a generation that has difficulty with imagination ability. Don’t take a hard with the “a-d” point I mentioned above. You don’t need to worry and expect nothing from yourself.
Today, the big wave hurricane that gave massive tremor to my generation was not the weapon war as the baby boomer generation ever felt. Nor the transition era that The X-generation ever lived. But, here we are in a time where sandwich generation almost has a similar meaning to common mental disorder survival.
“a-d” point is one of several issues we are facing today, especially in Indonesia compared with today’s living as millennial & Y generation living mode pressed by tons of local trouble they have been struggling, and the “a-d” point had already sunk.
Local trouble means issues regarding self-oriented businesses acquiring their own goal. Local trouble always leads us to drown in the local perspective at the narrow scope of visibility and tends to make us forget the main goals. For example: Having a disease, struggling with a problematic work environment, dealing with Family’s demand for certain affairs, unstable emotions, and having a Low ability to think properly.
Local trouble absorbs most of our thinking energy as the narrow scope of visibility gives the consequences. Hard to escape because we are too busy to solve that local problem.
Back to the topic where I mentioned above that my generation has difficulty with imagination ability then it will lead, sooner or later, to the kind of lack of vision why the “a-d” point seems hard to talk about.
Now, as a foreword, i would like to talk and keep in mind that each of us has an interests point. An interests point drives you defend the status quo or acquire a certain level. it is not debatable.
Therefore, the debatable thing is not the inner instinct to move for the interests, but how much the consequences will damage. And it has big damage if the interests point determined by the head who has big responsibility to each of us. Directly or indirectly.
Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs above explains the pyramid's form to acquire self-actualization. In my opinion, the top of the pyramid (self-actualization) equals the end road of our interests.
In this short writing, we are not talking about privilege role although it has a profound role in each layer in Maslow’s hierarchy. We are talking about stuck phenomena to reach self — actualization in two things: soveregnty and vision.
Soveregnty simply demands nothing except our patience. Patience to distinguish the wants and the needs, patience to re-see what is truly needed, and patience to acquire the needs. These 3 things stuck ironically in a time where patience has a high demand when fast movement is a normal activity.
I am worried that intelligence is not a thinking activity anymore, but only technical know-how, a robotic activity with less imagination and freedom to explore probability.
A stagnant process to reach soveregnty, especially soveregnty to think, will lead to a lack of vision scheme. In our head, deep in the mind. Vision helps us to be a game changer, and shift the status quo while the occurrence keeps going. Soveregnty and vision distinguish us from how recently Artificial Intelligence works and has been affecting us.
Serious problems have been affecting since people as human being lost their imagination. Max Horkheimer & Adorno present the critical theory from the Frankrurt School, one of the branches of philosophy that follows Karl Marx-isme told that modern people’s endeavor toward rationality tends to be irrational. It happened because intelligence (kecerdasan akal budi) was no longer part of objective Intelligence (akal budi objektif), however, it was part of subjective intelligence.
Objective Intelligence will build goals based on conscience, common interests, and common good and not based on the method as subjective intelligence was.
Objective intelligence won’t be neutral but subjective intelligence will be, because it is neutral and whenever can be changed. Each neutrality is prone to be filled with interests that drive other interests. Yet, a non-neutral one isn’t.
I propose here, that today's people's dream is not based on objective intelligence but based on subjective intelligence that makes people being an instrument. It has a similar vibe to the production scheme. People stare at each other as instruments, as dead commodities, and no longer as an intelligence entity who can give impact and strong movement.
All the events are seen as capital connected with benefits that come into money-oriented. The move should be productive, the holiday seen as a pause to ponder another productive strategy, not seen as a space to strengthen and rightly obtain.
This is why people trapped in this capital world demand The high and the advanced but will give birth to empty souls, and empty imaginations. A place we shall not go forthwith.
