At least for the last six years, I have realized that my desire to explore every edge of this country is getting bigger and bigger. If you ask why, i don’t know, deep in my soul, I don’t know, instead, I only know, I feel the spark among those journeys.

dampo awang

Almost 2 years ago, amidst 2nd wave Covid — that sick pandemonium — i took the furthest distances I had ever been. To the almost northernmost in this archipelago state.

I took a flight from Soekarno Hatta International Airport at 02.30 am WIB to Sam Ratulangi Airport, Manado, North Sulawesi. Midnight flight hit me differently. The twinkling lights along the plane increase the height, the jet combustion whistling along he air hostess told us: we take off. Waving Goodbye to Jakarta, Waving goodbye to Java Island.

I got sunrise above the plane, shit, that was great. Exactly like a sunrise when you finally reach the top of the mountain (if you never reach the top mountain but have no time to get there and guessing what is it like, then take the flight)

One day later, we took our longest-ever sea travel. it might sound scary, crossing through the Pacific Ocean in 15 hours of ocean travel. Imagine. A full night above the fierce waves with dark scenery everywhere.

That distance should be taken, to reach an island called Lirung Island. Where The song “Nyiur Kelapa” as the imagination of the tropical mainland has stuck out.

East Indonesia has beautiful beaches, an Adorable coast, warm people, and a great taste of fish as well. I eat a lot of Cakalang and Tuna Fish, Freely, 0 Rupiahs Cost. Hmmmmmm…

I stayed on Lirung Island for 17 days. Make a friend, stay up late on the weekend on the coastline, crossing the neighboring island with a speed boat. Diving in Sara Beach. That was a great experience diving in the isolated Sea with clean water and a lot of fish underwater.

Okay enough, that was my memoir. Someday I will be back in the East. Where everything is the magic itself. I prefer to hike the mountain. Feeling my hand frozen at midnight camp gives me huge dopamine.

2 days ago I had a conversation with my friend. We talking about the mountain outside Java island. I’ve heard many times, the mountain outside Java Island has different topology and land contour. Such as Binaiyya Mountain, a mountain in North Maluku with an adorable moss forest and the diversity of the Flora.

So do the Latimojong Island in Sout Sulawesi with a well-known peak named Rantemario. The beautiful one: Rinjani, with sand field and Letter E detour. The Highest peak in Indonesia was Peak Jayawijaya in the Cartenz Mountains, located in Papua which bridges Indonesia with Papua New Guinea.

What a Dream!
